Allseating Recognized as Merit Honoree at Interior Design’s Best of Year Awards

The manufacturer’s Lyss collection was honored in the Seating: Contract Guest category

NEW YORK—December 2017—Allseating, a leader in the design and development of workplace solutions, is excited to announce that its Lyss seating collection, designed by Carl Gustav Magnusson, was recognized as a finalist at Interior Design’s 2017 Best of Year (BoY) awards event. The annual ceremony, which was held on Friday, December 1st at the Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building in New York City, drew over 1,000 designers, architects, and manufacturers, to celebrate the best product and project designs of the year.

“We are thrilled and humbled that Lyss was named as a finalist in Interior Design’s prestigious Best of Year awards program.” says Chris Binnendyk, President of Allseating. “Carl Gustav Magnusson and his vision have been inspiring to our team and we are proud to share his latest designs for Allseating with our peers in the global design community.”

This special honor was bestowed upon Allseating by both Interior Design magazine and the architecture and design community who voted on entries in 113 categories before finalists were chosen. Lyss was as standout for its thoughtful design and timeless silhouette. The collection of seating, derived from the Swedish word, 'lyssna,' meaning 'to listen,' was designed to facilitate intimate dialogues and meaningful connections between its users. Lyss makes for the perfect seating selection in boardrooms, lobbies, lounges, libraries, and ideation spaces. The versatility of the chair can be largely credited to the chair’s' sophisticated yet contemporary aesthetic made possible by a flexible poly shell carved with subtle undulations at its summit for an eye-catching detail and added support. A delicately curved cutout in the seat's back, complemented by an A-line base, exudes modern appeal, while tactile upholstery offerings and a real oak wood base enhance the upscale styling of the chair. Juxtaposing uncommonly matched materials - a real oak wood base with an outer poly shell backing - Lyss can be celebrated for its thoughtful design and ingenuity.

Interior Design's Best of Year is the design industry's premiere design awards program, honoring the most significant work of the year as well as recognizing designers, architects and manufacturers from around the globe. Now celebrating its 12th year, Interior Design's Best of Year has become the ultimate measure of excellence, showcasing what's happening today in every category of design while simultaneously setting the bar even higher for the future.
