Healthier Interiors

Allseating strives to ensure that all products are safe and free of harmful chemicals. To accomplish this, we follow guidelines set forth by Healthier Interiors and ensure our products are free of the following chemicals:

  • Formaldehyde

  • Flame Retardant Chemicals

  • Per-and Poly-fluorinated Compounds (PFC’s or PFAS)

  • Polyvinyl Chloride

  • Antimicrobials

Allseating does not add any of the process chemicals noted above to any products. All process chemicals are assessed based on Safety Data Sheets and/or Supplier Material Declarations and do not contain any of the substances in coherence with Healthier Hospitals Guidance for Manufacturers to achieve the Healthy Interiors: Furniture and Furnishings Criteria.

To verify compliance of all components and materials that make up the products, Allseating requires suppliers to provide Material Declarations form that identifies whether their components are meeting the criteria specified under the Healthier Hospitals Guidance for Manufacturers, ultimately to achieve Healthy Interiors.

Compliance for upholstered products remains subject to the textile selection and can be verified by Allseating on a case-by-case basis. Allseating ensures that their textile offering includes fabrics that also comply with Healthier Interiors guidelines. While most manufacturers are committed to complying with these guidelines, some may still be transitioning, however, Allseating has listed their “carded fabrics” that have been verified to meet the requirements using the Supplier Material Declarations. This list can be viewed here.

Under the criteria for flame retardants, Allseating upholstered products are labelled as meeting CAL TB 117-2013 consistent with the requirements of Section 19094 of the California Business and Professions Code and states that the product does not contain flame retardants.

Under the criteria for formaldehyde and other VOC’s, Allseating seating solution and tables have been tested to conforms to ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standard (M7.1/X7.1-2011 R2021) and ANSI/BIFMA e.3-2019 (Credits 7.6.1, 7.6.2, 7.6.3) for seating parameters.  Also, conforms to the CDPH/EHLB Standard Method (CA 01350) v1.2-2017 (effective January 2017) for seating and classroom parameters.

Likewise, Allseating tables have been tested conform to the ANSI/BIFMA Furniture Emissions Standard (M7.1/X7.1-2011 R2021) and ANSI/BIFMA e.3-2019 (Credit 7.6.1 and 7.6.2) for the open plan office parameters and (Credit 7.6.1,7.6.2, 7.6.3) for the private office workstation parameter.

We continue to promote Healthier Interiors and work with determination to add more to the list.
