A Lounge Chair Designed to Support Spaces in Between

Ayles™ : A Lounge Chair Designed to Support Spaces in Between

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

As the workforce embraces mobility, cubicles are coming down. In their place, lounge chairs are being used to define the “spaces in between” workstations and meeting rooms to support people as they read, research and reflect.

"Traditionally, these types of chairs have been considered 'beauty pieces' designed to simply make a design statement to visitors,” explains Tom David, Design Manager. "But as these spaces become more functional and more common, facilities are looking for products that are more supportive – and more affordable."

Ayles leverages Allseating’s 35-year expertise in revolutionary, award-winning task seating designed to deliver affordable, ergonomic support to lounge, enclave and informal meeting spaces, as well as the executive office.

Instead of constructing the chair with just wood and upholstery, David designed Ayles with a metal spring-back frame that is formed, versus flat, to support the lumbar and provide greater comfort. An ottoman encourages users to put their feet up for proper recline while using laptops and tablets.

“Ayles is inspired in its design and through its name by the famous ice shelf and features a contemporary knife-edge design and a playful cone base,” says David. “In a market dominated by round shapes, Ayles’ midcentury modern design makes it an eye-catching complement to a lounge landscape, in an executive office or in waiting areas.”

For functional versatility, Ayles can be specified with a glide base or a caster base, and a cone mechanism or a knee-tilt mechanism. Color-blocking upholstery options provide limitless options to create a unique design aesthetic.
