The highly-customizable family of stackable, multi-use chairs previews during NeoCon

This June, during NeoCon 2016 Allseating previews Topic, a highly-customizable stacking chair designed by award-winning Danish firm Busk & Hertzog. Historically called a “side chair,” in today’s transient, dynamic workplaces, this type of multi-use chair is no longer pushed aside. It sits in a mix of collaborative seating and systems in open work spaces, cafeterias, training rooms, and waiting areas.

“We know now that the design of our public spaces and working environments can have an affect on our productivity, our health, and our sense of community,” says Chris Binnendyk, Allseating President. “Topic offers design flexibility in order to give interior designers the ability to enhance their creative visions.”

To achieve that high level of design customization, Topic can ultimately be specified into 54 different variations. Options include:

3 Arm Styles: Penguin, Loop or Armless
3 Back and Seat Styles: Polypropylene, partially upholstered and fully upholstered
2 Bases: Sled base or 4-leg
3 sizes: Guest and 2 stool heights
12 Poly Colours

Completely free of any off-the-shelf design solutions, Busk & Hertzog drilled down into each detail—from the double curve shape of the back right down to the chair leg glides—to give Topic a crisp and elegant twist. “This type of ubiquitous multi-purpose chair comes with many requirements,” says designer Stephan Hertzog. “But within those practical concerns, there’s room for every single part to be reconsidered and designed for our current time.”

Indeed, those who preview Topic in Allseating’s showroom this June will see why it fulfills the manufacturer’s campaign promise—that the sum is greater because of its parts.

To preview Topic during Neocon, visit Allseating's Chicago showroom and lounge right across the street from the Mart at 325 North Wells St., Suite 210.
