Allseating's Levo and Innate Win 2020 Good Design® Awards

December 22, 2020

Toronto, ON — December 22, 2020 — Allseating is pleased to announce that Levo and Innate have been selected as recipients of the 2020 GOOD DESIGN® award. Organized by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, GOOD DESIGN is a global competition in its 70th year that recognizes the latest, most advanced products for design excellence. GOOD DESIGN annually remains one of the most prestigious programs in the industry.

“Our team is thrilled to have partnered with award-winning industrial designer Todd Yetman on Innate, and to also have the Levo enhancements recognized by the GOOD DESIGN Awards,” says Cindy Lawton-Moreby, Vice President of Sales at Allseating. “In 2021, we look forward to continuing to develop innovative, proprietary and ergonomic seating solutions at accessible price points.”

Levo is a task chair designed for optimal vertebrae support that suits the needs and aesthetics of the modern office. It is inspired by the Latin word ‘levis’, meaning ‘to lift’, which is exactly what the chair does for the user’s posture. Providing a more affordable option that dynamically adapts to the user’s movements, Levo’s proprietary three-point system helps reduce discomfort for employees. Beyond back support, the arms of the chair are designed to tilt inward to provide additional forearm support at six height intervals. In collaboration with Denmark-based fabrics provider Gabriel, Allseating now offers Levo in ten new mesh options, including five neutral and five vibrant colors.

Soon-to-launch Innate is a fully upholstered ergonomic task chair that lives up to its namesake by providing intrinsic and integrated functionality for all-day comfort in conference rooms, breakout spaces, and home offices. Featuring a proprietary design that resonates with Yetman’s classic style, Innate was crafted to cradle the sit-bones so that the user stays relaxed and focused. These are key design elements to consider given the world’s workplace model shifts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As working from home has become the new norm, whether it be a personal office, dining room, or kitchen––Innate provides a classic, soft solution that fits into the user’s working environment.

Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, GOOD DESIGN remains the world’s oldest and most recognized program for design excellence worldwide. Levo and Innate have been published in the GOOD DESIGN Yearbook for 2020-2021, which is available for purchase through Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd.
